About this blog

Hi. My name is Judith. In June 2014 I moved to a small community in Virginia beside a creek that flows into the Chesapeake Bay. After having lived in the suburbs of major cities all my life, moving here was quite a change. At first I sometimes wondered if I had done the right thing.

But after a bit of time I have grown to love it. It has given me a precious gift. A place to create a garden just outside of my kitchen door that grows flowers and food to nourish both my body and my soul.

I have had wonderful success and heartbreaking failures. Challenges include deer, bunnies and grasshoppers. But I love to grow things in the soil, see how they taste in the kitchen and come up with creative ways to use them.

This blog is my way of sharing the fun, excitement and sometimes disappointment of gardening and using what is grown in new and interesting ways.

I hope I’m able to help you by sharing what works. I’m also looking for tips from you when my attempt didn’t work. I hope we will share joy in both the garden and the kitchen as we flow through the seasons.
